How PowAlert forecasts work
Free multi-day outlooks
PowAlert publishes free multi-day snow outlooks for the hills pass holders actually ski. The core 10-day view is not behind a paywall. Check the outlook, set a stick, take the day when it is worth leaving.
No local 24-hour hand edit
We do not employ a local meteorologist to hand-edit the next 24 hours. What you see is a multi-day outlook, not a nowcast and not a promise about tonight’s snow.
Stick SMS uses the same forecast
The text you get when a followed hill crosses your stick is decided from the same outlook these pages show. One SMS when it crosses — not a daily digest, not a map.
Uncertainty
Outlooks are wrong sometimes. Later days in the window are less certain than the next couple. This is not an avalanche forecast and not a guarantee. Check official conditions and local advisories before you drive.
PowAlert does not publish accuracy scores, named model stacks, or comparisons with other forecast products. Stick alerts fire from the outlook, as early as that outlook shows a cross.
